I've been listening to a lot of John Legend lately. "I Love, You Love" is beautiful. Of course, there are many more, but open your ears to his album, Evolver. John Legend never disappoints. :)

I swear I'm like the only chick I know that's so obsessed with indie lyricists...I've been lovin' Charles since my junior year of high school and I've loved him ever since. People complain that he samples too much, but okay, 'Ye sample a little too; the way he does it, I wouldn't call it "jockin." I mean, I'd call it paying homage and switchin' it up to make it his own. Either way, he is so dope to me. ESPECIALLY "Sat(t)elite" on the Pink Lavalamp mixtape.

Don't get me wrong, home is where the heart is and NEVER forgetting where I come from is what keeps me grounded. However, my dreams expand beyond my comfort zone and I don't want to fall in the statistic of individuals who never jump at the opportunity to see what the rest of the world has to offer.

Vashtie Kola is one of my role models. Art/Photography, Fashion, Music Video Production....she inspires me. A multi-talented young woman like myself wants to utilize all my gifts in this short amount of time. I ALMOST switched to PR but I don't think it was meant to be because when I went to get my signatures, the Chair was in a meeting and I was leaving to go out of town like right at that second. So, the plan right now is to minor in Print and go to grad school at Howard for Print. I'm sticking with it. They told me I can't do it all; watch, wait, and SEE.

Big Sean is IT. I've been trippin' over this song ("Love Story", ft. Keely on the hook) for weeeeeeks. I absolutely love it! It's even more awesome because he's rappin' over the piano. I felt this way at one time..awww. :) Here's some lyrics tho:

This is what I learned.

LIPS, LIPS, LIPS.

Lately, I've been chillin' on the eyes, but experimenting with my lips. I mean, nothing as outrageous as some of the ones pictured above, but I have nice, FULL lips; why not emphasize that? First, I had to have that "Oh Baby" shade of MAC's lipglass; then the Pink Poodle. I went like a week straight wearing red lipstick and then the next week I'm in my room every morning mixing pink gloss with a MAC liner to make a deep purple. Ha, I go through color phases.

I like to vocalize my emotions and handle my problems face-to-face like an adult. Our generation uses technology as crutch. I feed on raw emotion; I act on raw emotion. You'll never understand me more clearer than in LIVE and living color.

I keep flirtin' with the thought of starting a band...but believe me, as soon as I find some dedicated musicians I'm not flirtin' with the thought anymore..I'm goin' all the way and you will get high off our sound. =D

Epiphany: I found myself, I know myself, I love myself.
It took this entire school year to figure out just who I was and what I really want to do with my life because my interests and talents are overwhelming; Do I really have to pick just one? Honestly, the idea of going to college to study just one thing seemed blatantly unfair if you put into perspective the amount of money my parents and I are spending for me to be here. Thousands of dollars to study just one thing? If I could, I'd study them all. International studies, African American studies, Liberal studies....Why not be an English major? A fashion major? Or what about a theater or music major? All this money and I have to pick just one? Yeah, that's the catch. I was often reluctant about telling people my major and it was from that moment of hesitancy that I realized I was in the wrong field. I should be able to shout my dreams to the world without shame or doubt because that's the only way I'll have a fighting chance to "make it." So, world...I love indie culture, I live to inspire, and I have a way with words. Journalism. There's so much more I'm doing at this very moment, but you'll just have to wait and see. :) Unfortunately, me not knowing myself caused me to lose love. You can't really know someone if you don't know yourself...It's like you're walking around living a lie and it feels good at the moment, but what happens when you do come to terms with the truth? The truth sets you free in so many ways, but the downside is the journey in your new life may leave things behind..Super-sad-face here. That's life. Never sleep, Never stop, and you'll forever succeed. That is all.

ECLECTIC

I think I'm cool shit because I took this picture lol and I swear the lighting turned out like this; I just added soft-focus. Populart Yin is his name...He's an artist who was doing live body art at this event I went to at my school. Yeah, I thought he was hot; Sue me. I'm insanely attracted to artists, musicians, lyricists....I love guys with a creative spirit. I love to be around this type of guy and just get high off his presence. These guys see the world differently, finding beauty in places overlooked. They inspire me, so of course, my love for artists will never change. By the way, my friend told me he wasn't hot..I don't care; it was dark. His wild hair is hot, his art is amazing, and no one can control what his face looks like in my fantasies so who cares! :)

erykah badu is the naked truth

Yeah, at 3:33AM, I watched this video and loved it. It was simple, the theme was clear, and whatever type of camera was used made the film even more LEGIT. As soon as we reveal ourselves to the world as self-actualized, confident beings, we are sometimes unfortunately rejected because of the world's GroupThinkers (watch the vid. for the word!). I respect people who are comfortable in their own skin and do not conform...If you want respect, you have to come correct and that doesn't mean falling into the status-quo. It's like she brought to life what I always used to quote "Be yourself; Imitation is suicide." Love yourself, loves. :)
